Blue Star Museums is the collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense to help enrich the lives of active duty military members and their families.

They are offering free admission for active duty members and up to 5 family members at participating museums across the country. Over 2000 museums have signed up to open their doors to service members from Memorial Day to Labor Day. 

Summer is coming soon and there really is nothing better than having an emergency plan for getting the kids out of the house when your area gets a streak of summer rain. Free museum admission also makes a great date night to enjoy with your service member.

Memorial Day is coming up this weekend. Cities and towns tend to come alive with all sorts of summer inspired events and festivals to help stay busy and enjoy a long weekend. 

While thinking about the true meaning of Memorial Day, we came across some really great sites that inspired us and gave some perspective on the freedom we enjoy. As people who are proud to help military families, we wanted to share as a way to show our appreciation for those that have made the ultimate sacrifice.

There has been a trend for a few years of “boots on the ground” memorials.

Volunteers will gather military boots and lay out incredible temporary memorials to those who lost their lives serving our country.

May is National Military Appreciation Month. The idea behind the month is to honor all who serve or have served. Military life has some unique challenges, some much more difficult than others. To say thanks to the soldiers and their families, many businesses offer great deals for Memorial Day and some throughout the entire month.

Mother’s Day will be upon us before you know it. In order to send a thoughtful care package to the mother you know in time for Mother’s Day, you need to send it now!

Here are a few suggestions to make the special woman in your life (friend, spouse, sister, etc.) know she is loved this Mother’s Day:

Make a small photo book with pictures from recent events and milestones they may have missed while they are away. Many of these books can be made with same day pick up or you can print out a few photos and have each family member write something on the back. Include a short message about what is going on in the picture and how much she is loved and missed.

Send a few of her favorite pampering items – A few ideas are; a new lip balm, travel sized
